Barbie and Oppenheimer, two blockbuster films released on the same day in summer 2023, boast a total of 17 nominations at the 81st Golden Globes, which take place this weekend in Beverly Hills.

New era and new awards for the scandal-ridden Globes

Who is hosting this year's Golden Globes?
Comedian and actor Jo Koy was confirmed as host of the Golden Globes in December. The American of Filipino origin, 52, will be only the second Asian to host the ceremony, after Sandra Oh in 2019.
“I know my family is watching, and my culture is watching and there are a lot of kids who are going to be inspired by this,” Koy said in an interview with Variety this week.
