AMD is expanding its line of processors for professional desktops and laptops in the third period (16) with Ryzen PRO 8000 and Ryzen PRO 8040 series launched. The new chips are equipped with technologies similar to the products recently launched by “Team Vermelha”, but use resources exclusive to the enterprise segment.
There are a total of 16 new processors for desktop and laptop computers under the “PRO” brand, which include enterprise-grade management resources, such as a more robust security approach incorporated directly into any hardware, including a coprocessor of security. Microsoft Plutowhich provides hardware protection for the system.
For professionals who use desktop computers, the brand's new processors are present, in an unprecedented form for the segment, the first mechanism dedicated to the AI process. A NPU XDNA allows the computer to perform artificial intelligence functions without depending on the nuvem and, therefore, without connection to the Internet, thus guaranteeing greater security.
The models contain 8 cores based on Zen 4 architecture with a processor manufactured by a 4-nanometer process. As per AMD, the Ryzen 7 PRO 8700G is here 47% faster on CPU and 3x faster on RDNA 3 GPU compared to Intel Core i7-14700. Selected versions of the new chips are from the factory and are compatible with Wi-Fi 7.
Among professional laptops, AMD's new high-performance proposition is the Ryzen 9 PRO 8945HS, equipped with 8 Zen 4 cores, 16 threads, 24 MB cache and Radeon 780M GPU, which is based on the RDNA 3 architecture .
AMD claims that, with the Ryzen AI (available on selected models) and the integrated RDNA 3 GPU, a new series of mobile processors for professional use is capable of offering power consumption of up to 72%, but with up to 84% power consumption video conferencing — with or without AI experiences — compared to the Intel Core Ultra 7 165U.
Ryzen PRO 8000 and 8040 series processors are already being sent to manufacturers by AMD. The first desktops and laptops equipped with this hardware will be launched starting in the second quarter of the year by HP, Lenovo and other brands.
On a related note, in the last week, AMD was initiated Processors also based on Zen 4 and RDNA 3-volt architects for the robotics and IoT segment.
