The offline days of the Linha-5 Lilás do Metrô de São Paulo are connected. Vivo announced the implementation of 4G and 5G coverage in our underground areas and in all stations operated by ViaMobilidade. This will allow passengers to continue to connect to mobile internet on public transport.
The implementation is the result of a collaboration with IHS Brasil, a company providing infrastructure for mobile telephone antennas. Businesses can use distributed antenna systems (DAS), which are specific to the indoor environment and the signal emitted by small antennas distributed in different locations.
The 17 stations of the Linha 5-Lilás, 12 of which are underground. At the end of Tunisia there is 12 km of extension, which prevents signal penetration from existing antennas at the solo level. For this reason, it is necessary to create a coverage system dedicated to the maintenance of smartphones for the entire duration of the line.
Campo Belo station will be the first to provide coverage. The companies estimate a time frame of 12 to 18 months for 4G and 5G signal to start or stay on the line. After all, the equipment and facilities are the responsibility of IHS Brasil.
According to the companies, underground coverage is expected to reach around 630 million passengers per day. No DDD 11, Vivo is vice president of mobile phone lines and meets 36.1% of the market.
