Apple has updated its entire Mac line to the M4 processor, through the end of 2024 and will end with the Mac Pro in the second half of 2025.
After learning that Apple is using an M4 processor with AI resources for Mac, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reveals an expected release timeline for the entire line. In the latest edition of the “Power On” newsletter, the newspaper says that a transition, unsurprisingly, will arrive with the MacBook Pro.
According to Gurman, the plan is for these Macs to be updated to M4 as early as the end of the year:
- Cheap 14-inch MacBook Pro
- 24-inch iMac
So, between the 2024 finale and sometime in early 2025, a growing list includes:
- New MacBook Pro with 14-inch line and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro/Max processor
- Mac mini to M4 and M4 Pro versions
After that, Gurman says that from the second half until the end of 2025, Apple will conclude the modification of the entire line for M4 in this sequence:
- New 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models
- Mac Studio with latest generation M4
- Mac Pro with M4 Ultra
Apple's reason for using an M4 processor isn't a big surprise, but it won't have less support for AI. However, this calendar is the first indication of this, from the first time, Mac will be updated.
As on Mac Pro, we have carefully studied the rest of the modification line for Apple Silicon, it uses the original M1 processor. Since then, Apple has decided not to produce an M2 version on a 24-inch iMac.
Therefore, this is the first time after the release of Apple Silicon that all Macs in the line have received my newest processor.
