Recently transparent about it significant weight loss and a difficult divorce, singer Kelly Clarkson is also candid about a rigid rule she set for herself as a parent.
Honestly, she didn't want her children to venture into the music industry, Clarkson says she is adamant her children will not explore the social media space as long as they live with her.
“It can be very hard on children in general, but especially on children whose parents are in the public eye,” Clarkson told People magazine. “So I informed them that they would never be allowed to have any under my roof.”
She shares daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remington Alexander, 7, with ex-husband Brandon Blackstockfrom whom she separated in 2020. Their divorce was controversial, only finalized in 2022.

“My daughter said to me, 'Well, what if Dad lets me?' I’m like, “Well, you’re here four days a month. Enjoy it.’ And right now he’s not letting them either,” Clarkson said of Blackstock. “I’ll listen to them when they’re older, but until they have a solid argument, it’s no.”
Despite being aligned with social media, Clarkson admitted that co-parenting is not child's play. “There are so many emotions and trauma involved,” she explained, especially in the beginning.
“It's hard enough when you're married and come from two different backgrounds and have different ways of disciplining and parenting. Doing that in different homes can be difficult,” he said. she explained, adding that things have improved since then.

The singer of “Breakaway” says she “can be hard” on herself, but makes it clear she's not a “helicopter” parent.
“I think I'm doing a really good job…I like the fact that they're independent, but I'm adamant about my schedule, making sure I'm there as much as possible. There's no of perfect parent; I'm definitely screwing my kids one way or another! But I'm doing my best.
Clarkson said one of his best decisions of late was to leave California.
“I was very unhappy in Los Angeles and had been for several years. I needed a fresh start,” she also told the media.

“We told NBC, 'I'm not trying to sound ungrateful, I can't stay here anymore because of my mental health; for me and my kids.' They weren’t doing well either,” she said of conversations with the network that airs her talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
She can now live and work happily from New York, alongside her children.
