Comedian Nick Swardson blames edibles, alcohol and altitude for getting booed backstage in Colorado

Comedian Nick Swardson blames alcohol and edibles for his stand-up show in Colorado this weekend, which saw him booed and escorted off stage.

Swardson, known for his work on several Adam Sandler productions such as “Just Go With It” and for his role in the comedy series “Reno 911!” ”, performed Sunday at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek.

But his show apparently wasn't a hit with fans as he continued without realizing his impressions and the rowdy crowd screamed and booed.

On Monday, Swardson spoke to the show on X, writing, “Just woke up casually to TMZ. Travel tip: Do not drink or take edibles at high altitudes. F—— cerebral diarrhea.

“I’ll make it up to you, Beaver Creek!” he added.

Video of the performance posted to social media showed Swardson saying he would do an impression of Jason Statham in the 2024 film “Beekeeper” and going on for several seconds to say “here we go, here we go, okay, here we go” without getting to the actual print.

After more than a minute, the crowd seemed agitated, shouting, whistling and booing. At one point, the star asked the crowd, “Do you want me to finish this or not?” And people said loud and clear: “No! »

Another clip showed the theater lights turning on and Swardson's onstage spotlight turned off, along with his microphone. A man then appeared on stage and spoke to Swardson, and he left the stage with a wave.

A man identifying himself as the operations manager came on stage and apologized for the performance.

“We have decided to end the show early in the best interest of those who purchased tickets,” the man said. “We apologize for what you saw tonight. Please email the box office. They will respond to inquiries and process credits and refunds. We apologize.”

Some people in the crowd seemed upset that the show was cut short early.

Representatives for Swardson and the Vilar Performing Arts Center did not immediately respond to requests for comment from NBC News.
