CBS Orders 'Young Sheldon' Spinoff Series Georgie & Mandy

The Big Bang Theory-verse officially expands as CBS On Tuesday, he greenlit a new half-hour multi-camera comedy series starring Montana Jordan And Emilie Osment for broadcast during the 2024-2025 season.

Created by the production team behind The Big Bang Theory And Young SheldonChuck Lorre, Steven Molaro And Steve Holland — the sequel series follows Young Sheldon's Georgie (Jordan) and Mandy (Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenthood and marriage.

Deadline reported in January that the spinoff was in the works as the two officials worked on their deals. Additional notes included Lorre, Molaro and Holland's history with the franchise, which all three worked on. The Big Bang Theory Or Young Sheldon (or both simultaneously) since the launch of the mothership series, co-created by Lorre, in 2007. Molaro led BBT for years before teaming up with Lorre to co-create Young Sheldon and serve as showrunner for the prequel, with Holland succeeding him as head of BBT before moving on to Young Sheldon after the flagship series ended in 2019.

“It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy,” Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said in a statement. “Chuck and the two Steves have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with touching and touching stories brought to life by Montana and Emily. We look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe.”

“Of The Big Bang Theory has Young Sheldon, the world of the Cooper family has been incredibly special to us,” Lorre, Molaro and Holland said in a joint statement. “We are so excited to continue their stories through the eyes of Georgie and Mandy.”

Lorre, Molaro and Holland will serve as executive producers on the series, from Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Young Sheldon premiered as the #1 new comedy of the 2017-2018 television season and became the #1 comedy of the 2019-2020 season after The Big Bang Theory has finished its race. Young Sheldon is currently the #1 comedy on television since the premiere of the series' seventh and final season.

THE Young Sheldon The series finale, comprising two back-to-back episodes, is scheduled to air Thursday, May 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
