Sheridan HS' Dane Steel named 2023 WY Gatorade Football Player of the Year: For the 5th time in 6 years, the Sheridan High School Bronc football team produced the Wyoming Gatorade Player of the Year in the sport.
For the recent 2023 season, it is Dane Steel who this time wins the honor.
Last season he received 970 yards, but he found a way to score in all facets of the game.
Steel caught 9 TD passes, scored 8 more, returned 6 punts, 2 pick 6s and 1 kickoff return for scores.
He was named a unanimous all-state selection as a wide receiver, defensive back and return specialist and was the 4A offensive and defensive player of the year according to the coaches.
He says he learned a lot from his 2 older brothers.
Steel has already signed his letter of intent to play at Montana State.
During his tenure at Sheridan Bronc, he said he's seen his share of rivalry games, but a college football rivalry game has a much different feel, and he's looking forward to the feud between the MSU Bobcats and the Grizzlies. Montana.
Steel is also a two-time Wyoming high school state champion and a two-time All-American.
Sheridan and Tongue River Wrestling: Wrestlers from Sheridan Bronc as well as Tongue River will be back on the mat tomorrow and Saturday in Douglas.
The Sheridan Girls will compete in Bozeman, Montana.
Sheridan HS Basketball: Sheridan is back in action today as he competes in the 3-day Cheyenne Invitational.
The Broncs and Lady Broncs will play all their games in Cheyenne East.
Today they are playing at Green River.
The girls' game will start at 3:30 p.m. and the boys' game will follow.

University of Wyoming basketball The Wyoming Cowgirls won last night at Utah State 54-48.
