LOS ANGELES (KABC)– Karol G thanks fans for their support one day after a in-flight emergency forced his private jet to land in Van Nuys.
The Grammy-winning singer's plane had just left Burbank Thursday evening when the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit.
The plane turned around in Cajon Pass and landed in Van Nuys, with emergency crews on standby. Karol G and other passengers on board appeared shaken by the incident but otherwise unharmed as they hugged each other on the tarmac.
“My family, my team and I are doing well and grateful for this new opportunity,” singer Karol G said after her plane was forced to make an emergency landing.
On Friday, she posted a note on Instagram to fans who had expressed support for the Colombian reggaeton singer.
“Thank you to everyone who expressed concern and sent messages,” she wrote in Spanish. “My family, my team and I are well and grateful for this new opportunity. God protects us and blesses us every day with life and health.”
Fans told Eyewitness News they were grateful she was OK and spoke about their connection to her music.
Edward Trejo saved up to take his mother and sister to one of Karol G's concerts.
“My mom works 24/7. She works seven days a week,” Trejo said. “So to be able to share that moment with her, to take her to sing along with that, it was very, very touching for me.”
He even got a barbed wire heart tattooed on his shoulder to match the singer's, which is also painted on the exterior of his jet.
Karol G's latest album “Mañana Sera Bonito” or “Tomorrow Will Be Beautiful” is the first Spanish-language album to debut at No. 1 on the English Billboard 200 chart. She is currently touring Latin America and reportedly arrived in time for a scheduled concert in Guatemala on Friday.
