Natalie Portman reportedly struggled when her 11-year marriage to Benjamin Millepied ended in secret.
“At first it was very difficult for her, but her friends rallied behind her and helped her through the worst,” said a close source. told people Friday.
“Natalie is coming out of a really difficult and painful year, but she is emerging stronger and finding joy in her family, friends and work.”
It was revealed on Friday that Portman, 42, and Millepied, 46, had in fact I called it quits eight months ago and their divorce proceedings were already finalized, as all the documents were completed.
The former couple has yet to release a statement on their separation. Their representatives did not respond to Page Six's request for comment.
Portman and Millepied's divorce comes months after sources first revealed the separated couple was separated due to the latter's alleged affair with a 25-year-old climate activist Camille Etienne.
“They have been trying to work on their marriage but are currently apart,” a source told Us Weekly last August.
Page Six also exclusively reported in June 2023 that the Oscar-winning actor and French choreographer was fight to save their marriage after the alleged cheating scandal.
“They haven’t broken up and are trying to work things out,” a source told us at the time. “Ben does everything he can to get Natalie to forgive him. He loves her and their family.
French magazine Voici previously released footage of Millepied and Étienne strategically entering his office separately last May – only to exit the facility less than 10 minutes apart two hours later.
The outlet claimed that Portman discovered her then-husband was cheating on her last March.
Shortly before the allegations surfaced, the “Star Wars” actress and the former New York City Ballet dancer attempted to put up a united front by kissing in public.
They were seen locking lips while dining with friends at Georges restaurant in Paris.
Even after the scandal broke, Portman seemed in good spirits, showing a giant smile during a solo outing to attend a football match between Paris Saint-Germain and Clermont Foot 63 in early June 2023.
A few days later, the star of “Mai Décembre” proudly wore her wedding ring at Roland Garros.
However, the facade began to crumble later in the week when Portman was spotted getting emotional while chatting with Millepied on a park bench.

At one point, she was seen wiping away tears under her cat-eye sunglasses.
Nearly two months later, the 'No Strings Attached' star came out without his wedding ring in Sydney, fueling speculation that the couple have decided to separate for good.
Portman and Millepied met in 2009 on the set of her ballet film, “Black Swan,” which he choreographed.
They married in 2012 and share a son, Aleph, 12, and a daughter, Amalia, 7.
Despite their divorce, Portman and Millepied appear to be co-parenting well, as seen last month go to a family lunch together.
A friend of the former couple also told People Friday that the 'Jackie' star's “biggest priority has been ensuring a smooth transition for her children.”
“She and Ben truly love their kids and also strive to be the best co-parents they can be,” the source concluded. “Nothing is more important.”
