EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Awards season will officially kick into high gear Sunday with the 81st annual Golden Globes. Following recent controversy, the ceremony is back – televised on a new network and under new ownership.

Spectrum News took a closer look at some of the details surrounding the evening, such as the menu prepared by a celebrity chef, the extravagant gift bag that will be given to each winner and presenter, and where the stars will go after the ceremony.

  • The 81st Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
  • The ceremony partnered with Nobu Restaurants, with a menu created by celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
  • Each winner and presenter will be offered a gift bag worth $500,000.
  • The “Young Hollywood and the Breakout Stars of 2023” afterparty will honor the new rising stars of film, television and music at Academy LA.

This year, the Globes partnered with Nobu Restaurants to create a dining experience that would redefine the traditional awards show menu. Celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa has created an exclusive menu of signature dishes, such as salmon tartare with wasabi soy caviar, yellowtail jalapeno, black cod miso and much more.

“Our team is honored to be part of this extraordinary collaboration,” Matsuhisa said in a statement. “Developing a menu for such an iconic event allowed us to push the boundaries of creativity. We hope the menu will add a touch of magic to an already unforgettable evening.”

The Globes also partnered with lifestyle magazine Robb Report to unveil an exclusive gift bag that will be given to winners and presenters. It offers more than 35 luxurious products and experiences.

“We wanted to give presenters and winners a thoughtful, on-brand Robb Report gift,” senior curator Paul Croughton said in a statement to Spectrum News. “We teamed up with our longtime friends at Métier – a luxury leather goods house dedicated to creating timeless pieces of the highest quality, handcrafted in Italy – to create an exclusive item for the Golden Globes. “

Totaling $500,000, the gift bag is selected from a wide variety of categories.

“I expect savvy wine collectors will pounce on the rare attribution of Liber Pater wines, which would make a sophisticated addition to any cellar,” Croughton continued. “Coomi x Muzo's stunning unique earrings are definitely red carpet ready, so someone is going to be very happy with these unique pieces, but for those who regularly visit the East Coast, I also love pizza- preparing a master class with the team at Razza, one of the top-rated pizzerias in the world – and who wouldn't want to try the pizza tasting menu too?”

After the ceremony, what's next on the celebrity agenda that evening? Some may be heading home, but those from younger generations will be able to attend the “Young Hollywood and the Breakout Stars of 2023” afterparty, an exclusive black-tie affair at Academy LA in Hollywood.

The invitation-only event will honor Hollywood's newest rising stars in film, television and music, with celebrity DJs headlining the evening's entertainment. Past participants include Idris Elba, Paris Hilton, Jake Paul, Jack Harlowe, Paul George and Wiz Khalifa.
