Notre Dame Fighting Irish guard Olivia Miles suffered a right knee injury during their match against the Louisville Cardinals on Thursday. The extent of the injury is currently unknown.
Miles, a freshman from Phillipsburg, New Jersey, had to be helped off the court by medical personnel after falling awkwardly while attempting a layup in the second quarter. She was unable to put any weight on her right leg as she was being escorted to the locker room.
Miles has been a key contributor for the Fighting Irish this season, averaging 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game. She has started in all 24 games for Notre Dame this season and is considered one of the team’s most talented players.
The Fighting Irish went on to lose to the Cardinals 66-57 in their regular season finale. Notre Dame will now turn their attention to the ACC Tournament, where they will look to bounce back and make a deep run.
The injury to Miles is a significant blow to the Fighting Irish’s hopes for a successful postseason campaign. The team will be hoping for a positive update on her condition as they prepare for the upcoming tournament.
