American who was hostage in Niger has been released

After 6 years American Jeffery Woodke, who was held hostage in Niger for more than 6 years, has been released. Woodke, an American aid worker, was taken while working in the African nation in October of 2016. US officials have confirmed his release on Thursday. Woodke was kidnapped by terrorists and had been held captive since then. After more than six years of captivity, Woodke is now free thanks to the efforts of the US Government and other international parties. His release has been welcomed by the US State Department and Woodke’s friends and family.
