LOS ANGELES – Flowering is no longer on the final rose for “Bachelorette” star Rachel Lindsay and her husband Bryan Abasolo, who found love on the reality show. Court records show Abasolo filed Tuesday to end their marriage.
He cited irreconcilable differences for the breakup, and his Los Angeles Superior Court filing says the couple separated on Dec. 31.
“After over 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to separate and start over,” Abasolo said in a statement posted on his Instagram account. “Sometimes loving yourself and loving your partner means you have to let go.”
After competing on season 21 of “The Bachelor,” Lindsay rose to fame as first black protagonist on any iteration of “The Bachelor” franchise when she was cast as “The Bachelorette” in 2017. She chose Abasolo as the winning suitor and they married in August 2019. Lindsay, an attorney and author, recently left her position as a correspondent at Entertainment News show “Extra”. Abasolo is a chiropractor who adopted the nickname “Dr. Abs.”
In his statement, he asked for respect from their family and friends as they take their next steps.
Lindsay has yet to comment directly on the matter on her social media, and her publicists did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In a New Year's Eve Instagram post, she called 2023 “one of the hardest years of my life.”
The couple has no children together. Abasolo is seeking child support from Lindsay and wants her to pay his attorney's fees. The filing does not indicate the couple has a prenuptial agreement on how their assets should be divided.
