Dwayne Johnson fans felt “The Rock” was cooking up lies, and now the cheat-meal connoisseur is correcting his “first ever” hamburger mistake.
Last week, the professional wrestler turned action hero released a video montage of his “first ever” In-N-Out Burger experience, in which he walks through the ubiquitous California burger chain and poses for a selfie with eager, enthusiastic employees. But among the fans who have followed her pages on social networks for years, a few took advantage of the star's double-double recipes.
“My first In and Out Burger experience” Johnson wrote on X (formerly Twitter) last week.
“I rolled around in my van and tried to be cool with my order / But I didn't know the lingo, I didn't know who to pay, where to pay, I didn't know… / But I'm a study quick / I loved everyone's positive vibes and their “holy rocks” energy / I loved the food And I loved the way everyone in the drive-thru looked at me like I had three heads when I tipped them / Thanks In and I'm off to be awesome and I'll see you later.
Animal-style responses quickly slammed Johnson for repeatedly saying he was trying In-N-Out for the first time, and the actor has since graciously corrected his mistake. On his original Instagram post, he edited the caption to read “My first ever @innout burger experience — AGAIN 😂 / (thanks to the fans who reminded me that I went to In and Out years ago and I totally forgot about it 🤣🤦🏽 ♂️)”
In August 2022, Johnson released a Instagram video with an eerily similar caption saying it was his first time eating In-N-Out. “It’s a story in the making,” he says, pointing to fries and two double doubles that look like tiny sliders in his hands. “It's a cheat meal Sunday for all of us everywhere, certainly for me here, and the reason it's a story in the making is because it's the very first time I've tried an In- N-Out Burger or In-N-Out Fries or anything from In-N-Out for that matter.
“Now I have bought In-N-Out Burger several times for some of my friends. I've never tried it, so this is a first. Let's see, I have two double doubles loaded with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and cheese. Of course we have fries here,” he adds before helping himself to tequila over ice to accompany the meal. “Ladies and gentlemen, what a pleasure. This is my very first In-N-Out Burger.
Associating fast food with tequila may have caused a memory lapse, but there was no tequila in sight in February 2017, when Johnson posted a photo from an In-N-Out drive-thru, repeating once again that he had never been to the burger restaurant. “I've never been to IN-N-OUT before (I know, what a—), but when my lovely ladies @laurenhashianofficial & @simonegjohnson wanted a late night meal, I happily obliged and took the wheel.
“Seriously, the most excited and super nice fans ever. Thanks Victor (manager pictured here) and staff for being so cool. You made my ladies very happy with the burgers, fries and shakes and that's what it's all about. If our Moana wins the Oscar this Sunday, I will return – in a tuxedo and completely destroy several burgers and fries to celebrate. I'm talking about taking the cheat meal to another level.
