Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick in Manchester City’s 6-0 FA Cup quarterfinal win against Burnley on March 18, 2023.
This was his eighth goal in two games, having scored five goals against RB Leipzig in midweek.
Haaland has now scored 42 goals in 38 appearances.
He is the sixth player in the Premier League era to score at least 40 goals in all competitions in a season, joining Ruud van Nistelrooy (44), Mohamed Salah (44), Cristiano Ronaldo (42), Andy Cole (41) and Harry Kane (41).
Haaland’s performance was described as “unstoppable” and he was praised for being a “goal-scoring machine”. Jermaine Jenas named him as the player of the match. The win was a chastening experience for former City hero Vincent Kompany, who is now managing Burnley.
