In a video conferencing meeting attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, French President Emmanuel Macron, Ratan Tata, and Airbus CEO, a big deal got sign today. Air India CEO Ratan Tata announced that they had signed an agreement with Airbus to purchase 250 aircraft.
The order will include 40 wide body A-350 aircraft and 210 narrow body aircraft, with an option to increase the order. Tata Group Chief N Chandrasekaran praised the historic agreement, and Modi expressed his gratitude to Macron for his attendance.
Modi also discussed the potential for India to become a maintenance and repair hub for the aviation sector in the region. India’s Make in India – Make for the World vision is creating many opportunities in aerospace manufacturing, he said, and the Indian aviation sector will require more than 2000 aircraft in the next 15 years.
