Janelle Brown and his ex, Kody Browncame together to honor their late son, Garrison. THE Sister Wives The stars and their ex-spouses took to social media on Tuesday, releasing a joint statement confirming the news that their son was dead. The garrison was 25 years old.
“Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown,” Janelle's statement read. “He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a void in our lives that it will take our breath away. We ask that you respect our privacy and join in us to honor his memory.”
Kody posted the same message on his own account, editing the text to read: “Janelle and I are deeply saddened.”
Meri BrunKody's other ex-wife, also shared this sentiment on her own account.
The Flagstaff Police Department confirmed in a statement to ET that they were called to Garrison's residence in Arizona to find him dead. Authorities say Garrison appeared to have been shot. Foul play is not suspected. Garrison's brother, Gabriel, found him and alerted the police.
Janelle and Kody, who share six biological children, split in 2022, and the split was shown on the final season of TLC. Sister Wives. Janelle cited Kody's estrangement from their older children as the main factor in his decision to walk away from their spiritual marriage. Both Garrison and his brother Gabriel have spoken openly about their complicated relationship with their father. Many of Kody's children have pointed to his alleged favoritism toward his only remaining wife, Robyn Brown, as the reason for their separation.
Together, the exes are also parents to Logan, 29, Madison, 27, Hunter, 27, Gabriel, 22, and Savannah, 19.
In a season 18 episode, Garrison told his siblings, “You know what, Robyn? Take it. We're all adults who don't need a father figure anymore.”
“We are devastated to learn of the tragic loss of Garrison Brown,” TLC said in a statement to ET. “We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Brown family during this difficult time.”
ET spoke with Janelle and Christine Brown in November 2023 about Kody's estrangement from his children. At the time, Janelle said Kody wanted to have a better relationship with them.
“I think that’s probably the point, right?” she told ET. “He'll eventually figure out how to have a relationship with his kids. I mean, I hope that happens over time.”
