University of Wyoming basketball: The University of Wyoming Cowboys basketball team copied some of the football team's actions.

Last night the Pokes were down by 17 points in the 1st half at home against San Jose State.

They rallied in the second half and Akuel Kot hit one at the buzzer, and UW would win 75-73 to start Mountain West Conference play.

Sam Griffin would lead all scorers with 23 points.

Oleg Kozhenets came off the bench to score 16.

Kot scored 14, including the buzzer-beater.

San Jose State made 12 3s in the game, but UW found success by finding ways to get to the free throw line.

The Brown and Gold were 23 of 25 in the charity category, while the Spartans were just 9 of 12.

Wyoming's next game is this Saturday at New Mexico.

The alert is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Wyoming Cowgirls play Utah State tonight.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. and you can hear this match LIVE on Fox Sports 106.3 FM.

Sheridan High School Basketball: Sheridan will be back in action this weekend as they play 3 games in Cheyenne starting tomorrow.

The boys are 4-2 so far this season and coach Jeff Martini says the team needs to do a better job of shot selection and solidify themselves a little more.

Meanwhile, the Lady Broncs are 5-1 this season and coach Ryan Sullivan says this weekend's games will help the team determine its rotation and when to have the top 5 players on the court in certain situations.

The schedulers were kind this weekend since both Sheridan teams will play all their games at Cheyenne East, instead of having to travel between the three Cheyenne schools.

Thursday they play at Green River.

The girls tip off at 3:30 p.m. and the boys will follow.

On Friday, Sheridan plays Kelly Walsh starting at 3 p.m. and on Saturday they take on Evanston starting at noon.

You can hear every game LIVE on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

Arvada-Clearmont has no games scheduled this week.

Wrestling, boys' swimming, Nordic skiing: Sheridan's boys wrestlers will compete Friday and Saturday in Douglas, while the girls will be in Bozeman, Montana.

The Nordic ski team is scheduled to compete on Casper Mountain next Friday and Saturday.

Colorado Avalanches Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won in overtime last night at home against the New York Islanders 5-4.

The Avs' next game is tomorrow in Dallas.
