Lexington native creates entertainment company

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A Lexington native wants to put his hometown on the map in the entertainment industry.

James Turley grew up near Georgetown Street. He is proud to be a Lexington native and hopes to make a difference in the entertainment industry here, not only for himself but for other local artists as well.

“Everyone has a deal,” James Turley said. “New York has a market, Florida has a market, Tennessee and Texas. Everyone has a deal. Lexington is intact.

James Turley has been creating music for 20 years.

“I always want to perfect the craft,” Turley said.

His years of experience led him to launch his own music label.

“Let’s get our music out there,” Turley said. “What is the best way to distribute our music? Create a visual. Let's create a series because music videos are something that everyone does. So let's break away from the norms. Let's create a series.

The series features nine other local artists and their works as well as some familiar sites.

“You're going to see a lot of Georgetown Street, and you'll be able to see some of Masterson Station,” Turley said.

His vision goes beyond simple music.

“We are looking to have concerts here. We’re looking for artists to meet major artists,” Turley said. We may be looking to recruit an artist.

He established an entertainment company, Turley Marshall Video Productions, based out of his home.

“I want to be someone who creates a path. So, it’s just something that I do,” Turley said. “I create my own path.”

Through hard work, he creates a path to serve generations to come.

“I always say I’m not dreaming,” Turley said. You know, I wasn't sleeping when it happened. It's more of a reality. I just woke up and said you know what, let's go with something different. This is where it all begins.”

James is holding a premiere for its first three episodes at the Lyric Theater on January 12. This is where you can buy tickets.
