The first human patient received a Neuralink brain implant, according to Elon Musk. The procedure was apparently successful, with Musk saying the individual was “recovering well” a day after the operation.
Neuralink, which aims to create (BCI), began recruiting human patients for its first clinical trial last fall after receiving the green light from . At the time, Neuralink said people “who have quadriplegia due to cervical spinal cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)” might be eligible for the study. “The original goal of our BCI is to give people the ability to control a computer cursor or keyboard using only their thoughts,” the company wrote in .

Musk did not share any further details about the proceedings or the status of the lawsuit. He said that “initial results show promising detection of neuronal spikes.” Successfully implanting his device in a human patient would be a major milestone for the company, which Musk has could one day allow people to experience alternate realities. The company is also under federal investigation for allegedly violating laws.
