NJ/NY Gotham FC continues to make a splash on the free agency market, this time landing the signings of Rose Lavelle and Emily Sonnett on Thursday.
The sought-after duo joins reigning champions OL Reign, for whom they both played in last year's championship game. Women's World Cup winners join their U.S. Women's National Team colleagues Crystal Dunn And Tierna Davidson as free agents to sign for Gotham in recent days as the club prepares a star-studded rebuild with the goal of remaining competitive in 2024.

The league's second free agency window is gearing up for a busy offseason. More than 70 players with at least five years of experience in the NWSL can move on as free agents this offseason, and the list includes some eye-popping names. Casey Krueger, another national team player, could be next to move in with him a transfer to the Washington Spirit would be considered, while Becky Sauerbrunn and Sam Mewis are respectively at the end of their contracts with the Portland Thorns and the Kansas City Current. The exit of Mewis from Courant is already confirmed.
