Opera, the company responsible for the Opera One and Opera GX browsers, this week (18) disclosed an installation jump of its mobile version for Android and iOS in the European Union. According to the company, there is a 164% growth in downloads on iOS since the Lei dos Mercados Digitais (DMA, in English) came into force in the bloc. Opera para iOS is, according to the company, your main mobile product.
DMA monitoring arrived on March 7 and in the meantime you will be able to release the browser engine on iOS. On the other hand, Apple and Google are developing browser learning via our devices. For Opera, these two users are the main ones responsible for installing the browser on our iPhones.
Downloads from France to Opera
The country that can install the browser better, second business, faith in France. Since the DMA went into effect, browser downloads have increased by 402% — an absurd number, to increase the minimum. Then it is Spain (143%) and Poland (68%). In France, the installation rate of Android smartphones is also increasing by 54%.
Increasing Opera downloads will allow you to encounter a company-recommended task before starting DMA monitoring. The result shows that every 10 EU users want to test a new browser on their smartphones.
Users may not necessarily use Opera to consider that the browser gives them good quality, but they want to try other options than Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android). Brave browser also logs a large portion of downloads after DMA monitoring.
It's likely that the webkit in Safari, Apple's browser, is the main motivation for iOS users to seek out Brave and Opera. Before DMA came into force for all browsers, it was necessary to use the Safari engine to work on iOS (so you have to go through the EU forums).
Without this requirement, developers can use their own webkits. Assim, developers have more freedom in creating your browsers. If you're used to using Opera or Brave on your computers, you'll probably need to use it on Android and iOS — in which case it'll mostly be the version closest to desktop.
