Sarah Polley Wins Best Adapted Screenplay for ‘Women Talking’ at Oscars 2023

Sarah Polley has won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for her work on Women Talking, it was just announced at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The 95th Academy Awards saw the prize recipient get the renowned gold trophy.

The adapted screenplay prize went to CODA last year, which also won Best Picture. Sian Heder’s screenplay defeated rivals from Drive My Car, Dune, The Lost Daughter, and The Power of the Dog.

Women Talking focuses on the traumas experienced by the isolated women living in a Mennonite colony after learning that they had suffered terrible abuse at the hands of the men in their society. They must decide collectively whether to flee and never look back or remain and avenge themselves on the perpetrators of their oppression.
