YouTube TV users get a higher quality video option for everything from streaming their favorite shows to watching a live game. Google is rolling out a new setting called 1080p Enhanced for YouTube TV and Primetime Channels subscribers. The Enhanced 1080p setting enhances the existing 1080p60 resolution with an improved bit rate, which is the number of bits processed per second.
Google confirmed the update after a Reddit user posted about this on the platform. The enhanced 1080p setting “delivers our highest video quality,” according to the response. Reddit users who already have access to 1080p Enhanced report that the resolution is available for all of the same channels as 1080p60, like Paramount and Syfy. The upgraded 1080p option also follows that for 2023. YouTube Premiumwhich improved video quality for Premium subscribers on the company's original platform.
In this case, everything YouTube TV and Primetime Channels subscribers with an updated 4K-capable streaming device should have access to the option by going to the video quality settings. However, Google discovered a bug that prevents users from manually choosing 1080p Enhanced. However, the company reports that the bug does not impact image quality and that it is working to resolve the issue.
