On Monday night, March 27, 2023, a shooting occurred at The Hangout Gulf Shores, a famous restaurant in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
The shooting happened during an event with mostly teenagers in attendance, and multiple shots were fired.
A female teenager was located suffering from at least two gunshot wounds at the restaurant and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The identity of the victim involved has not been released.
The Gulf Shores Police Department says a suspect is in custody, but the claims have not been confirmed by the investigating PD.
Gulf Shores Police Chief Ed Delmore confirms one person was shot, and another person is in custody following the incident that happened at approximately 9 pm.
It is important to note that this incident is not the first shooting to occur in Gulf Shores. In 2014, Gulf Shores Police investigated a shooting that resulted in one person sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.
In 2019, a man was killed during an officer-involved shooting in Gulf Shores.
The man had run from his car during a traffic stop, ran towards the condos, and was shot during a confrontation with officers.
In May 2022, the Gulf Shores Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office had a busy weekend during the Hangout Music Festival, with a total of 133 arrests made.
The festival had been absent for two years and returned to the beach at Gulf Shores.
