barbie … musical comedy ? It's not that far-fetched!
Margot Robbie, Greta Gerwig And America Ferrera talked about the possibility — enthusiastically, we might add — while chatting exclusively with ET's Denny Directo backstage Thursday at the 35th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala. On the heels of the film's monumental box office success – coupled with the film's critically acclaimed soundtrack – it's only natural to wonder if a musical is in the cards.
Just ask Robbie.
“Believe me, it's not the first…it's not the first time we've thought about it, yeah,” she told ET. “It's so much fun when you can turn everything into one big crazy musical number. Everything is infinitely more fun.”
Gerwig, the film's director, agreed.
“A lot,” she says, drawing on Robbie’s love of musicals. “I am deeply in love with musicals. Plus, America stars in musicals!”
Gerwig added: “I really love musicals. I mean, nothing would make me happier. So I would love a musical.”
Ferrera, who played Gloria, a Mattel employee, said she felt like her character “had an act in her.”

“This is so cool,” Eilish gushes to receive this award, which has already been awarded to Amy Adams, Viola Davis, George Clooney and many others. “I've heard that this has never been given to a songwriter, which is such an honor, so we're really, really, really excited.”
Finneas agreed, noting barbie“It's such a special work of art. I still can't believe we're part of it.”
“When people talk about barbie movie and they said, “I love it barbie movie, I'm like, 'Me too,'” he said. “I forget we had anything to do with it.”
And the fans can't forget it Barbie: The Album won a GRAMMY nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, along with 10 other nominations. In fact, four of the five nominees in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category chose songs from barbie.
