Massive Earthquake with 5.7 Magnitude Rocks New Zealand

On Wednesday, New Zealand’s capital Wellington experienced a 5.7 magnitude earthquake, as per the US Geological Survey (USGS). The epicenter of the quake was reported to be at a depth of 74 kilometers (50 mi) below the Cook Strait, which divides the North and South Islands.

Wellington has been dealing with the effects of a cyclone over the past week, which has led to floods and landslides resulting in the loss of four lives in the capital. As per the USGS, no casualties have been reported due to the recent earthquake.
