Samsung overtook Apple in the first quarter of 2024 and regained the position of the world's leading cell phone seller. According to a recent research by market analysis company IDC, a South Korean manufacturer obtained 20.8% of the smartphone market at the beginning of the year. At Apple, there is a 9.6% share in sales, in the 1st quarter with 17.3%.
Second o IDC study, a Samsung between 60.1 million cell phones. The number of devices sold represents an amount of 0.7% compared to the same period of 2023.
Samsung created a good job earlier this year, back when it launched new smartphones from the premium Galaxy S line and some Galaxy A line devices, entry and intermediate cell phones. As sales of Galaxy S smartphones have been announced save financial results, as in the case of the Galaxy S23 line in the first quarter of 2023.
This is historic, the sale of iPhones at the start of the year is not surprising and will not be driven by Apple executives. The main quarter for a big tech is the fiscal year. Apple, generally, launches iPhones in September, until the end of Q3. It's not the end of the year, because sales are brought forward with Black Friday and Natal.
Xiaomi sells products without any benefit
IDC takes care of your research or the growth of Xiaomi. A Chinese manufacturer captured 14.1% of the market share at the beginning of the year — an increase of 33.8%. Xiaomi's employment is even more surprising regarding the fact that it is not present in the United States market.
I also had a strong start to the year for China Transition, which reached 9.9% market share — increasing from 84.9%. The manufacturer assumes the 4ª position of the brands that sell the most, placing the opposite for the quinta position.
A total of 289 million smartphones were sold in the first quarter of the year, increasing sales by 7.8% compared to the same period of 2023.
