Times are changing at Xbox. Brand executives have confirmed plans to bring more Xbox games to other platforms, most likely PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
On the latest edition of the official Xbox podcast, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, said his team would bring four of its games to “other consoles.” He did not name the titles, but contrary to previous rumors, Star Field And Indiana Jones and the Great Circle not coming to PS5 or Switch yet.
“The teams building these games have announced projects that aren't too far away. As we know, games teams put a lot of energy into their announcements with partners,” Spencer said. “So I don't want to take anything away from these teams. So I won't talk specifically about the titles. But I think when they come out it will make sense.”
Reports suggest that Rush to Hi-Fi, Sea of Thieves, Halo And Weapons of war would be among those who would cross the great divide. Spencer confirmed that Xbox games coming to PlayStation and Switch have already been on Xbox and PC for at least a year. “A few games are community games, new games, sort of early iterations of a franchise that have reached their full potential, say, on Xbox and PC – there's always growth, franchises that we obviously want to be in continue to invest in it,” he said.
“Two of the other games are smaller games that were never really intended to be built as a sort of platform exclusive and all the fanfare that goes around it, but games that our teams really wanted to build and that We love supporting the creative efforts of our studios, no matter the size,” added Spencer. “And as they have realized their full potential on Xbox and PC, we see an opportunity to use the other platforms as a place to drive more commercial value out of these games, allowing us to perhaps invest in future iterations of these, so is equal to those, or just other games like that in our portfolio.
